What a joy it was to join the start of Edinburgh L’Arche community member’s four days away beginning on 23rd May at the Conforti Institute in Coatbridge.
This Christian community for adults with learning difficulties was celebrating the 25th Anniversary of their Edinburgh community, with the theme of “Our Journey Together”. Part of L’Arche’s identity statement declares “Mutual relationships and trust in God are at the heart of our journey.” The stories I told, picked up this theme of journeying with Jesus.
All 49 community members were enthusiastic in engaging with the two interactive and participative Biblical stories I told for their “Opening Gathering”. There was a wonderful sense of the presence of God in their gathering as we engaged together with the Biblical stories of the feeding of the 5,000 followed by Jesus walking on the water. There was a very real sense of the genuine love and care as each person played a part in the stories and joined in wholeheartedly.
Rebecca “I loved the stories – when are we going to have some more?” Connie “Anne brings the Biblical stories alive in a vibrant way that really connects with our community members”
